Henna Tattoos & Henna Treatments in Sydney

Henna tattoos, also known as Mehendi or temporary tattoos are a popular beauty treatment. Your Sanctuary day spa specialises in Bridal Henna and preparing our brides to be for their weddings and other special occasions. The henna tattoos are also suitable for a girls’ night out, festivals, corporate functions, fashion shows and photo shoots, private functions and other events.

Henna is a plant grown in Africa, Southern Asia, and Northern Australasia and used to stain skin temporarily. The henna is traditionally applied to the hands and feet to create intricate designs and patterns. We only use body art quality henna sourced from the best henna crops. The henna application is painless, non-permanent, has no harmful chemicals and it is rare to experience any side effects.

We have a selection of henna tattoos, patterns from traditional designs to contemporary patterns available or we can customise a henna design especially for you. We specialise in:

• bridal henna tattoos
• traditional Indian henna tattoos
• anklet and necklace tattoos
• navel tattoos
• ornamental tattoos

Painting henna tattoos and henna body art is quite an involved process. For the best results, bridal henna should be done approximately 2 days before the wedding. Brides should allow between 20 mins to 4 hours for the application of the henna but this will vary based on design choice. In general, you should allow at least 15 to 30 minutes for a small design and up to 45 minutes for a large design. A complex design can take up to a few hours.

The natural body adornment will usually last 1 to 2 weeks. With proper care, you can prolong the henna from fading. Make sure the area of skin that the tattoo will be applied to is clean and free of any oils and lotions. Keep the paste as long as you can on your skin - two to three hours if possible. Avoid exposure to water on the tattooed area hours the henna tattoo has been applied. The less exposure to water, soap or lotions, the longer the henna will last.

When you book your temporary henna tattoo or come in for a consultation, we can give you quote and discuss how long the henna application will take depending on the intricacy and complexity of the henna design and the number of the people in your group (if applicable).
